There are certain ways in which board games can be implemented for the prevention of certain degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia. Alzheimer’s disease or AD is a fatal and progressive disease. This disease destroys brain cells and leads to memory loss, behavior and thinking, which can affect social work, hobbies and also work. Research was conducted that showed that when the brain gets challenged through leisure activity stimulation, it greatly reduces the chances of contracting this disease.
It showed also seniors who participated in such activities at least once a week; reduce the risk of dementia by about 7 percent, and those who engage in this activities for longer periods reduce the risk to even more than 63 percent. Games like chess, crossword puzzles, cards, playing musical instruments, writing and reading, are good for the stimulation of the brain cells and hence prevent damage to it and serious diseases. Board games also help in stress relieving and one gets a mental balance and relaxation. When people feel like they have a heavy load upon them, a good way to relieve this stress is by playing these board games.
In a separate research, respondents gave evidence and testified the manner in which board games helped them health-wise. 64% said the games help them to relax and unwind, 53 percent play these games to relieve stress, 42% to sharpen their brain and be sharp, and 75% of those interviewed and have children said they think their children are getting educational benefits when they play these board games.
